Nothing Works

I have been struggling with the part of my project that basically involves making things that work, which is actually the thing I thought I was good at lol. My confidence has taken a bit of a nock recently due to the lack of progress I have made due to the problems I have had with connecting flash to a database and transferring information. I have taken positive steps towards rectifying the situation as I have ordered two books but until they are delivered I will do my best to find other ways to make progress. I do feel at the moment as though there is a real danger of me not being able to complete this project but I will just have to do as much as I can to make sure that does not happen.

I have also hit another technological brick wall this week, I have been researching and planning to use the Kuneri lite application to make the uploading features on my application work but to be able to use Kuneri lite you must install some features on your computer, one of which is called active perl and it seems that no matter how many time I do this Kuneri lite still tells me it’s not there, so this had pretty much stopped my chances of creating a working app until I came across another application called the API bridge, the process for using this seems to be quite a bit different to the Kuneri lite but I will try it and see, it does mean that I am falling further behind in my schedule though and my chances of finishing this project are vastly diminishing.

I am starting to question whether there are lulls in every project or whether the pressure I am placing on myself to produce something that is of a higher quality is actually working against me. I have always had the point of view that if you don’t aim high you can never reach the top but now i am starting to wonder whether that approach is the right one.

Last weeks post

Sorry guys this is last weeks post I forgot to upload my blogs last week

This week I have been working on the dynamic side of the supporting website, I created the database and developed the ‘log in’ system, at the moment it is sort of working, you can sign in but the features don’t work properly yet.

I have also being working on the GPS gallery map.

I designed the map’s theme but when I placed it into the application I realised that the size of the gallery window created problems when viewing the details on the map. I looked at two possible ways of solving this problem; I experimented with a magnifying glass idea to enlarge the view similar to the one I used last year in my reinterpretation project. Secondly I tried giving the user the option to enlarge the gallery and blog sections of the website. I am now planning on using the second option although there are some teething problems when the pages are accessed dynamically.

Website Design Process Images

I have got together some of my design process ideas to show on here and it is:

In the past week or so I have been continuing my research into the kunerilite software and I think I’m getting the jist of it. I have also been developing designs for the supporting website and the individual elements within the website above are some of the developmental designs.
