logo Design

Hi here is this week’s update, I am not very well today but the project still goes on so let’s talk logo design! I have been struggling with my logo for this project, logos are an integral part of a products branding so it needs to be right and that’s the problem. You know when you have produced something that feels right and thus far nothing has felt right until now so let’s review the logo design process. I started off with my mood board take a look below:

I took inspiration from the colours within the South African flag, the English flag and footballs.

I developed ideas and I quite liked a design that I based around the flag of St George. I discussed this with my lecturer and we decided that this narrowed the appeal of the application to English fans only.

I then tried developing my ideas focussing on the colours of the South African flag and I tried incorporating the shape of South Africa as a nation into my design but nothing seemed to feel right.

I spoke to another lecturer who said “look at the words Fan Friend it’s for fans, it’s a friend” this gave me a different point of view that has lead me to this design:

This design feels right it is clean & simple, it show a pair of arms hugging a football and a representation of the South African flag bringing them together. The hugging element of the logo represents friendship the font is clean and simple and the logo is also reworkable for future sporting events or football tournaments by simply replacing the South African flag with a replacement relative to future events.
